Mould and paint a large bowl with maroon and gold using Dot art Mould and paint a large bowl with maroon and gold using Dot art - Craft a Life
Read Time:1 Minute, 10 Second

I created this bowl with a mould from Devon Dotting. The moulds are fantastic and work well time and time again.

Fill the mould with plaster (specifically Herculite 2, and leave for 48 hours before taking it out. As a large bowl, this will take longer to dry than most that I do, so be patient with it. After taking it out of the mould, leave it for another 7 days to fully set before painting the base colour.

I recommend using at least 3 coats of base colour to get a nice even finish – more thin coats are better than 1 thick coat. The first coat will take quite a lot of paint as it soaks into the plaster. But once that has dried, the second and third coats will need less paint.

I wanted a good matt base colour for this, so that the gold and white stand out. In the sunshine, the colours really glitter 🙂

I used acrylic paint from Deco Art for this piece. The colours are mixed from glorious gold and pearl white is different ratios to create the colour variation.
