These little magnets were such a lovely thing to make. They use a variety of different crafts, but all so simple. When put together though, they are so cute! Bees are amazing creatures and we should celebrate them!
To start with, purchase the blank fridge magnets. The link for them is in the Workshops and Tools section of the site.
This is how to do it
Decoupage
The bee images are tissue paper! I bought this on Amazon for £3.49 (Link: https://amzn.to/44b7Gao) and I used a really small amount of it! So watch out in future for more bee decoupages! Decoupage is a fancy name for sticking tissue paper onto something, and it is so simple. Sand down the wooden hexagons and paint in a layer of Modge Podge. You can use this stuff for loads of things and is every crafters friend!
On top of the modge podge, place your piece of tissue paper, with plenty over the edges as you will sand this off once dry. Carefully flatten it down – don’t rub it as the tissue paper will tear and you are then better off starting again. Then put it to one side.
After 30 minutes, the modge podge will be dry. Sand down the edges by just rubbing them on a piece of sand paper. I recommend putting the sand paper on the table, and rubbing the edge of the magnet on it, as that will keep it flat. Go around the edges and the surplus tissue paper will come loose! then give the top a very light sand too and put another layer of modge podge on. If you aren’t going to put a resin coat on these, then do the sand and modge podge about 3-4 times for a good seal.
Dotting
Once dry, you can dot the edges. I used a yellow that I had left over from another project… it was Deco Art, but I can’t recall what colours I used… other than it was yellow!
Resin
The resin I used is a premixed bottle by Lets Resin, which I put under my UV lamp that I use for my nails! But actually this type does airdry too according to the bottle. I purchased mine on Amazon, the link here: https://amzn.to/4jpQ8Mh.
