Paint an orange mandala stone - Craft a Life
Read Time:1 Minute, 14 Second

This mandala stone was painted as we came towards the end of winter, and spring was starting to appear. Daffodils were coming out and primroses were looking particularly spectacular!

To make the blank stone, use the Small mandala stone mould from Devon Dotting. These moulds are reliable time and time again and I really recommend them! I used plaster from Hobbycraft for this one, that comes in tubs which also work as mixing pots which is very handy!

Once the plaster is poured into the mould following the instructions, leave it for 24 hours at least as although small, it is quite deep. After you have removed from the mould, leave for another week to fully dry, and then apply 3 coats of basecoat, leaving to dry for 24 hours before marking your guidelines.

To make your guidelines, use a chalk pencil. These are great for medium to dark basecoats if you have used a matt acrylic paint. I use Deco Art acrylic paints that I mostly mix myself.

Using a compass and stencil, mark out the guidelines. In this instance I used a twelve section stencil. To view the painting itself, please go to the Instagram or Facebook posts for a short video.
